A new way of measuring ‘place’

Demos has now published the culmination of a major research project, supported by Collaborate’s founder Monique Rotik, on a new way of measuring ‘place’. It uses a poll of 20,000 people and qualitative research, to quantify the gap between people’s personal everyday needs for their location and how they rate the actual provision of those things they prioritise. The report produces an innovative method to rank locations across Britain. It also provides new insights around the nature of British suburbia, the importance of shops in driving regeneration, how people feel about fresh air and nature, and what it would take to support those who feel negative about their place overall.
